These captures from Xena and other television shows help define what the village "might" look like. Everything shown here is approximate and everything is subject to change.

This is from Xena, a picture of a central campfire in a large, flat dirt circle or square. There are many smaller campfires, so more than one thing can be cooked at a time. It is still surrounded by green, indicating that the houses would be off in the forested areas.

Another view of the main square, this time with Amazons training in spears. The main square is large enough for many different activities to take place within it. Again, you can see how the camp sort of circles around this major area of the village.

Taken from the show "The Lost World", this Amazon city is surrounded by a stone wall with high towers. Our wall is made of sharpened wood spikes, closely tied together with vines and ropes, ground deep in the earth. We have a similar tower structure as well.

A pulled back picture of the village as a whole. You can see platforms for guards to look around, covered areas for huts, and a path running through the entire camp.

From "Lost World" again, a picture of Amazons going about their life within the village. This depicts a communal table for foodstuffs and food preparation.

One of the things we have in Themiscyra is a sauna. This is basically a room with a hot spring, a constant fire of smoldering rocks onto which we pour water for steam.

This is an Amazon mounted guard patrol. The use of masks is key to scaring off the random intruder into Amazon lands.

This shows an Amazon funeral ceremony and pyre. A solemn occasion where all Amazons are allowed to speak and help send the spirit of their sister to the Amazon Land of the Dead.

This is a picture of one kind of hut from Xena. This shows the upper "loft" area and part of the lower doorway. In Themiscyra, our buildings are all very like this. Some of our huts have thatched (straw and mud) roofs instead of wood. This one appears to be wood covered by stretched animal hide.
