Amarinda
Demerci Fenal Koritsi
(Assistant Blacksmith)
Amarinda is a blind twenty three year old from Sparta. She has
lived in a very small village most of her life. As her mother was
of Amazon blood, she was shunned by the villagers. After the death
of her parents in a house fire when she was five, Amarinda went to
live with her only true friend, the village blacksmith.
Her Amazon heritage and her milky white eyes made the village
children reject her and the women despise her, even men wouldn't
venture near her if it could be helped; except for one, the kindly
blacksmith. She grew up friendless, learning the blacksmith's
craft. The flames in his workshop were a comfort and as she grew
older she came to realize that the heat of the fire was her sight;
she could see the silhouettes of objects and people when they
either reflected or gave off heat. She was no longer a poor blind
girl. The blacksmith taught her to use a dagger to protect herself
from unwanted attention.
Amarinda's life led her to be a very reserved person. She will
very rarely speak out to anyone. She found escape from her sadness
when she discovered dancing. She can dance very well, despite not
being able to see.
After many years of putting up with the villagers' abuse,
Amarinda decided that if she was truly the daughter of an Amazon
then she had better learn how to be one and that meant leaving her
village to travel; which was fine with her. She hoped that the
Amazons would be much kinder to her than her villagers had been.
She mounted her faithful mare, Layla, and followed the rumors
and drunken directions she received in local taverns. While in one
town, she met some women who were journeying in the same direction
and she joined them for protection on the trail and to have help
reaching her destination. Reaching the edge of Greece they caught
a barge and landed at Ionia and cutting across country they headed
toward Themiscyra.
Amarinda has a very slight frame. She is slim yet very
attractive with wavy blond hair, but her milky white eyes tend to
put off other people. On her brow she wears her mother's headband,
the only thing to escape the fire that killed her parents. In the
center of the headband is a bright green emerald.
Standing a little over 5 foot tall, she doesn't look very
intimidating; mostly because she shies away from people and jumps
a lot when spoken to or touched. Once her shell is broken, she
will happily talk to those who she considers to be a friend.
Amarinda has gone with the Amasian tribe to be their
blacksmith.
