Morigan was born in a costal village in Eire where she lived
till the tender age of thirteen. Her mother, Mavican, was a
natural witch and healer and she taught everything she knew to
Morigan about herbs and healing, including some witchcraft. Her
father, however, was a Viking warlord. He had kidnapped Mavican to
sell her as a slave but they fell in love and married. They moved
to Eire to live by the sea in Mavican's hometown, and he became a
fisherman. Morigan remembers her father would take her on his
fishing boat and tell her stories of his days as a Viking warrior.
Morigan was a beautiful child with her strawberry-blonde hair
and blue-green eyes. Her mother noticed something odd about the
girl, something she recognized in herself. Frequently, the child
mentioned a happening before it came to pass. She had inherited
Mavican's power of premonitions.
On one beautiful summer day, Morigan played in a nearby forest.
She loved to pretend that she was a warrior fighting for justice
like in her father's stories of Beowulf. That day would be
different, though. A sudden overwhelming sense of dread rose up
within her. In Morigan's panic, she headed for home.
As she approached her village, screams of agonizing pain and
clashing weapons made her feeling of fear turn into reality. She
ran towards her village only to be caught by her arms just on the
border of her village and the forest. Morigan struggled as she
watched Roman soldiers destroy everything she knew. Her mother's
bloodied corpse was on the ground. Morigan fell to her knees tears
streaming down her face.
That is where William, her father's comrade, found Morigan.
Comforting her, he told her what was to come. "Your
mother asked me to take you to your Aunt in Greece if anything
should happen. Come, Morigan. Come, let's go before it's too
late."
Months went by before the two arrived in Greece. William sent a
message to Morigan's Aunt. They arrived and the Aunt greeted them
both and mourned her sister's death. She had moved from Eire to
Greece to fight for the freedom of women with the Greek Amazons.
It was there that Morigan found her new family. Morigan made many
new friends within the Sisterhood. She learned to use the sais and
staff, quickly adapting to the ways of the Amazons. In time, she
began to travel to far lands, eager to know more of the
world. Her travels took her far, even to the land of Chin.
At the end of each journey, Morigan returned to the land of the
Amazons, ready to begin again. Every time, she vowed would be
different. She would remain longer, join in more, be more a part
of Amazon life. Every time, her restless nature forced her to
leave the village.
This time, the many tribes of Amazons had gathered to unite. And
several of the stronger, bigger tribes lived in the same lands-
Themiscyra.
Freedom was worth any price, to Morigan. Little did she know
that the warrior women fought for more than just freedom- they
fought for each other.
Morigan rides Artaine, a gift from the Latra of Themiscyra. She
also has a horse named Echo. Her
totem is the dragon. Her favored weapons are the sais, the sword
and the bow. She shared a hut with Venlusia. She speaks the
language of her homeland, Celtic.
