Vatari

Weyal Koritsi (Seamstress Apprentice)

Hevemur Koritsi (Jewelry Apprentice)

Vatari’s mother, Arnelia, was a Themiscyran Amazon who had married a man from a village up the river from Themiscyra to ally them. Shortly after Vatari was born, Arnelia’s husband was killed by a warlord named Vasilios, who had long coveted her. Instead of taking a chance on her new husband killing the babe of his predecessor, she bundled Vatari into a caulked basket with a scroll explaining that the babe, when found, should be given to the tribe of Themiscyra to be raised. Before she sent the baby into the river, she tattooed a “V” on the baby’s arm so that she could be recognized if she should be lucky enough to find her later. She put the babe in the basket into the Thermodon River and prayed that it would be well.

The baby, by the will of the gods, was found by some Themiscyran Amazons out on river patrol and brought to the village. The scroll was found and read to the amazement of the tribe. They decided to honor their poor Athelfi wishes and raise the child as befitted an Amazon. Vatari grew up displaying a very artistic streak and a knack for the bow and arrow, which became her weapon of choice. She was also proficient with the staff and sword. During her spare time, Vatari would mess with bits of metal and semi-precious stones, making herself little items of jewelry to wear.

When Vatari was sixteen years old, a woman staggered into a patrol and was brought to the village. It turned out to be Arnelia. She had escaped the brutal and abusive Vasilios and asked if she could return to the tribe. One of the women in the patrol looked vaguely familiar to Arnelia. Upon closer examination, she noticed the scar on the woman’s arm, it was a “V”. Arnelia called softly, “Vatari?” The two were reunited at last.

Vatari is now seventeen years old and is of medium height, standing 5’-6” tall with dark brown hair and green eyes. She loves to wear the jewelry she makes and brown leather. She enjoys dancing and is an exuberant member of the tribe. Her roommate is Priene.
