" I was trying to think of what exactly Themiscyra means
to me but there were so many different emotions and thoughts
inside me that I couldn't phrase it more eloquently: Ever since
I joined I thought of our tribe as a second family. I think we
are an amazing group of wonderful women and a real family. If I
had to list all the things that turn a group of people into a
family I wouldn't list 'blood relation' very high. However, the
things I would list are: love, caring, being there to cry as
well as to laugh, trust, friendship, sharing one's life. But
these are only the good things. As everything else families have
bad sides as well: quarrels (because you only really argue with
people you care about in a way), personal differences, mistakes.
And one of the most important things that link all these:
forgiveness. Even when we made mistakes, we always forgave each
other eventually which sometimes people don't even experience
with their "real families".
You girls inspire me very much and the world would be a
lonely place had I not met you all.
So in honor of my wonderful family's 13th birthday I've
collected thirteen quotations I found inspiring. Enjoy!"
VALKYRA
Words Said of We Assertive Women of the Sword and Bow By
Leinsata Valkyra
Example of an Amazon:
Today, after three millenniums, their (Amazons) ability to
inspire has not abated. They swept forth when most of the earth
was virgin, and their war cry sounded terror in a world not yet
tuned to the clap of megatons.
The ancient Greeks portrayed them in gorgeous hues-as
oppressors of men, as young and beautiful maidens vehemently
unfeminine but rarely unwomanly. In peace they could assume the
allurements of the coquette. In war, when they impiously out
battled armies of men. Their horsemanship and archery commanded
admiration when not inspiring dread. They galloped along the
edges of civilization. All the generations born since they
vanished after the fall of Troy have been touched by the wonder
of them.
Said of One of Our Best Known Weapons which Represents We
Warrior Women
The Labyris The Labyris (labyris - labris - labrus) is an
ancient Minoan symbol that looks like a double axe and was quite
common on the island of Crete. Scholars have reason to believe
that the symbol actually represents a butterfly, a symbol of
transformation. This symbol was most likely the one at the end
of a wand that was supposedly used by a goddess (Circe, Athena).
Later this wand was actually transformed into an axe that was
used as a weapon by the Amazons, a matriarchal warrior society.
Today it is used by women looking for a symbol of strength and independence
and to represent the Amazon spirit.
May we, the daughters of the ancient women of the sword and
bow, continue the traditions, the ambitions, the cultures, and
the courage of our assertive foremothers in their, and now our
battle for women's freedoms and rights.
May we Amazons of Themiscyra always be the reflections of
this battle. We have been here for 13 years; let our existence
be for many more years to come.
JADEA
This
was born from an idea I had thought up: if you could describe
the Amazon spirit in one word, what word would you choose? Then
I realized I couldn't settle on one, so I began listing words.

ETELKA
" Sisterhood is many things. It's a warn smile on a cold
and rainy day, a friendly hug, a cheerful hello... It's all that
a good and lasting friendship is, only better. It's treasured.
It's sacred. It's knowing that there will always be someone
there for you. It's dreams shared, and goals achieved. It's
counting on others and being counted on. It is real."
Thank you for being my sisters! Here's to 13 glorious years
and to 13....30 and many many more to come! Cu ena durus Tae'Nah

Since
we both had a lot going on, Astraea and I decided to collaborate
on our Anniversary gift to Themiscyra this year. She drew the
picture of Artemis and I coloured it, and we hope everyone likes
it! :)
