Always in my dream,
Just beyond reach
Is a place that
Sits my soul at ease.
They call it Themiscyra
"The Amazons Abode"
But it's much more than that;
It's a true woman's home.
For there she lives
Her life unfettered
Her fiery will
Forever unsated
Perhaps I should laugh
When I next wake;
Foolish me, Themiscyra
Is in my hand to create.

A Unique Tribe
As a new member of the tribe, I cannot talk about all the past trials,
celebrations, laughter, and tears. Nevertheless, I can talk about the present.
I can say what the tribe means to me.
Amazon women bring to mind many things to the average person. Female
warriors dressed in scanty garb, with a Xena type war cry, or men-hating
females of the past. The true history of the Amazon culture is often clouded
with myth and inaccuracies, and seldom (if at all) taught in our schools. The
myth, fantasy, and traditions of all our people are a mystery to our present
world. Matriarchal Societies are looked upon with distain. Fear from religious
leaders and patriarchal societies are a great source of misinformation and
teachings in today's world.
So what is the Amazon Nation and an Amazon woman?
Amazon women come in every shape, size, age, and culture. They live in
every part of the world. Today's Amazon may not wield a sword, double bladed
axe, or any weapons of war. Yet they are TRUE AMAZONS in every sense of the
word.
Women who spend every day at their jobs to support their family (Hunters
and Gathers)
Women who tend the wounds of their children and family when they are sick
or have hurt themselves. (Healers)
Women who fight for equal rights in the workplace, home, religious
organizations, Health Services, Schools, and governments. (Warriors)
Women who teach other women, their daughters, and grand daughters the real
meaning of being Amazon, and what the future holds for them. (Shamaness)
So much more embodies the Amazon of Today. Teaching all women to be sisters
for the well being of all here on this planet.
What about our tribe of Themiscyra?
Even as a new member, I can feel the unity, love, and passion from every
sister. Our present Queen has strength, love, wisdom, and a special quality to
bring her tribe together. She has chosen her elders and council well: leading
them by example, and letting each one use their abilities to the betterment of
the tribe. Her council has all the qualities that are needed to help,
compliment, and implement the laws and spirit of the tribe.
Yes, we write in a role-playing arena. Yet, the tribe is real; with each
and every sister being a TRUE SISTER and a TRUE AMAZON.
May I be a part of the tribe for the next eight years.

After eight Years, the Themiscyra Amazons
continue to thrive in their fight for women's independence and freedom
from the imperialistic male conquerors of Rome and other barbarian
armies.
After many attacks and incursions through the
years on their homeland, these heroic women warriors have been
successfully able to stave off all their misogynist enemies. The
Tae'Nah of Themiscyra have shown true courage and unyielding
determination to defeat any and all enemies of their Tribe. Tae'Nah Gienasata
would be proud of their children and future Amazon children
will be proud of their Mothers.
Truer words about Amazons could not have been
sung than the lyrics of Sister Sledge:
We are family
I got all my Sisters with me
We are family
Today we rejoice eight years of the creation
of a sisterhood, a circle of Amis Fe'minins, a tribe of female
warriors who cherish personal freedom, the right to be what we want,
the right to be who we are and the right to love who we want.
Tears of happiness come to my eyes as I
observe women and girls from the many nations and the many walks of
life find their way to the gates of Themiscyra. No matter how far I
go, no matter where my spirit dwells, I shall always be one of the
women of Themiscyra.
